RILEY'S ROBBERS - in honour of Kev Riley

Story

Our team is honouring our husband, Dad, Gumnut and all-round legend, Kev Riley. He was taken from us in September 2006 at the age of just 56, after battling pancreatic cancer for 11 months. We are determined to make a difference and raise funds and awareness to ensure others don't suffer as he did.

In 2017 we will once again channel Kev's sense of fun by dressing up. In previous years we've done 'Gumnut's Angels', 'Kev's Cowboys', 'Kev's Pirates', 'Riley's Royals' and Riley's Rockstars'.

This year we will be dressing up as 'RILEY'S ROBBERS' and would love you to join our team on the walk, followed by a 'cleansing ale', as he called it.

If you can't join us, any contribution, great or small, will assist the Avner Foundation in achieving their (and our) vision - THANK YOU!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 2016 in excess of 3,100 Australians are estimated to be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Only 8% of Pancreatic Cancer patients survive more than five years and the median survival rate is between three and six months.

The Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation is the only Foundation in Australia dedicated exclusively to Pancreatic Cancer. It is named after Avner Nahmani who was diagnosed with incurable, inoperable Pancreatic Cancer in September 2007 and died thirteen months later. Like many others who have experienced this disease or witnessed it taking hold of a loved one, Avner, and his wife Caroline, wanted to raise money for this chronically underfunded disease and be able to offer future patients hopes of a better outcome.

The Vision of the Foundation is - "To break through 40 years of no progress by doubling the number of people who survive Pancreatic Cancer by 2020"
